Solar Eclipse, New Moon & Spring Equinox ~

‘Laughter is the sun
that drives winter
from the human face.’
~ Victor Hugo

Lots of exciting happenings in the sky this weekend.

For the first time since November 3, 2013,
the Moon will completely cover the disk of the Sun
on March 20, resulting in a total solar eclipse.

The Spring equinox occurs more than 12 hours after the eclipse ends.

‘Nothing is more beautiful

~ George Washington Carver

Its been a very rough Winter Season for some of us around the USA.
Between the cold weather and howling winds,
the heat in the house drying out our skin ..
it is time to make some Body Creme and pamper
your skin .. Face, hands, elbows, feet .. all over.

Easy to make body creme:
(and remember its your creation
you can formulate this to your liking)

– 1 cup (16oz) Shea butter Organic
– 1/4 cup Virgin Coconut Carrier Oil Organic
– 1 tsp of Vitamin E oil (Non Gmo if possible)
– 1/2 oz of your favorite essential oil or blend
(ie Lavender, Sandalwood, etc)

I like to add equal parts:
– 1 Tsp Rosehip Organic (highest form of Vit C for your skin)
– 1 Tsp Evening Primrose Carrier Oil Organic

1. in a bowl add your Shea butter, VCO, Vit E
2. then blend your essential oil & rosehip / evening primrose mix and add to the bowl.

3. with either your kitchen aid or hand mixer ..
whip til it is the texture of meringue.

Because you are not adding any water you really do not have to worry about bacteria .
(Remember Vit E is NOT a preservative).

4. Once you have the texture you desire, place your body creme into a jar,
tapping on a cushioned pad to pack down and to get the air out.

Pamper your body and get ready for Spring.
Pamper your body and get ready for Spring.

they are the charming gardeners
who make our souls blossom.

And so, another season is coming to an end ..
isn’t it funny how by the end of a Season ..
we are ready to see it go.
I am so looking forward to Spring coming to Maine,
seeing what survived the winter,
the herbal beds, and flower beds, to be created ..
There is so much to discover here ..
Life is full and Spring is bursting with New Life, New Beginnings ..
~ until next time .. be well, Rosanne

Spring Forward 2013

Quote for Spring ~

The spring came suddenly,
bursting upon the world as a child bursts into a room,
with a laugh and a shout and hands full of flowers.

And time marches on !!! We had a snow storm today, but I feel Spring ready to burst and all the flowers are starting to wake up from their winter sleep.
Don’t forget that this weekend is DayLight Savings time. Spring Ahead as they say .. set your clocks 1 hour ahead.!

Essential Oils and Eye Safety ~
A quick word here, there has been rumors that using essential oils in the eyes is helpful.
PLEASE .. do NOT ever put essential oils into your eyes .. Ever Never.!! ok .

Essential Oil Eye Safety
Essential Oil Eye Safety

This is an excerpt from Robert Tisserand’s blog:
Not only is there no evidence that any essential oil can help with vision problems, age-related or otherwise, but placing any essential oil “in the eye” is extremely dangerous advice. Almost any undiluted essential oil coming into contact with the ocular membranes will be corrosive, possibly causing scarring of the cornea, and certainly causing significant pain.

* Undiluted essential oils should not be applied to the eyes.
* It is rash to suggest that essential oils are commonly used to treat eye problems
* Eye injuries and diseases are medical conditions, and any product claiming to treat them is a medicine, subject to drug legislation.
* There is currently no evidence that applying dilutions of essential oil to the eyes will be beneficial in any condition.
* Diluted (5%) tea tree oil may help eradicate eyelash mites, but it should not be placed into the eyes.

Autumnal Equinox ~ Change of Season !

The Autumnal Equinox this year falls on 22nd of September 2010 in the Eastern Hemisphere. During this time the Sun moves in the northern hemisphere southwards crossing over the celestial equator.

This is also a holiday, known as Mabon, a Sabbath. A Sabbath is considered a high holy day or a day of power. Mabon is one of eight of the seasonal celebratory days in which Pagans and Wiccans celebrate on the wheel of the year.

Mabon is seen as the second harvest of the year and it is also when gardens are in full bloom and full of the bounty of nature.
It is thought of as the ‘Pagan Thanksgiving’ where they celebrate the passing of the year and in turn give thanks for everything they have been given.

Inspired by the Changing  Season:
