Listen! the wind is rising,
and the air is wild with leaves.
We have had our summer evenings,
now for October eves.

Just wanted to write a quick blog on the Common Ground Fair
hosted by MOFGA here in Maine this past weekend.
The Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm where we had our booth were wonderful to us
and of course the Alpacas are just amazing magical creatures ..
The children of Maine were amazing and inquisitive and loved to ‘sniff’ the smelly stuff.!
It was a joy for me to introduce them to essential oils and watch the look of wonder on their faces.!!
And to Kristyn and Chuck thank you for all your hard work
and making this possible event possible for SunRose!
Quote ~
The harvest moon hangs round and high
It dodges clouds high in the sky,
The stars wink down their love and mirth
The Autumn season is giving birth.
Oh, it must be October…
~Pearl N. Sorrels
The season is changing …and Im loving the Fall Season ..
the falling leaves and beautiful colors!
Though we had such a very dry summer ..
the brook was all dried up.
We finally got some big rains today ..
and yes I am grateful.!
End Quote ~
October’s the month
When the smallest breeze
Gives us a shower
Of autumn leaves.
Bonfires and pumpkins,
Leaves sailing down —
October is red
And golden and brown.

Wishing you a joyous Autumn. til next time, Rosanne

September 25th, 2013,
we made the journey and permanent move up to our farm here in Belmont Maine.
Yes, a dream come true for both us.
Moving the garden ‘stone people’ (statuary) was the first move in September 2012.
Then once the house was sold .. we had to move SunRose and our personal household.
The ‘Delancey Street Movers’ were amazing and I would highly recommend them.
They were understanding (stress of moving home and business),
and efficient and not one broken item .. NOT one.
The transformation here is amazing from the cleared out driveway,
to the patio / fire pit, the new bedroom / living .. which is on the first floor ..
getting the chickens that we lovingly call the ‘girls’ (11 of the girls) ..
And of course with joy comes some sorrow .. the ebb and flow of life ..
We lost my beloved Pup Sasha Feb 2014
and then 2 weeks later lost Mama Coco my sweet kitty from the Bronx House of Detention.
Enter Conan our German Shepherd puppy .. who is truly a joy in our life!
wow .. and we did survive puppyville .. a challenge I tell ya.!!
Chuck lost his Mom Febuary of this year 2015 and she is very missed ..
and the rythmn of life goes on ..
Thank you for following our progress here on the farm. Sharing in our joys and yes sorrows ..
Our orchard is getting established. Our Elderberries seem to be thriving ..
with the help of Teddy Mattson his forte is permaculture.
He is really a blessing and helping shape the farm crops for us.
Hugel Kultur is amazing and he has created 5 so far ..
Mostly for my herb bed and perennials .. to read more about this visit:
Hugelkultur ~ http://www.inspirationgreen.com/hugelkultur.html
Hoping next year to have herbs,
elderberry tinctures and dried elderberries
to sell on SunRose.
So stay tuned to the future happenings here.
Life is a journey for sure .. each and every day a treasure.
I am so very grateful and so very blessed to be living here
on this amazing land with my life partner ..
he has made this incredible move easier for me.
And sharing life with him has been a true adventure.
We will be at the Common Grounds Fair / MOFGA this year .. our first ..
and hopefully, not our last.!
Look for us at the Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm.
There will be a ‘sniffapalooza’ going on ..
AND you get to meet these amazingly beautiful creatures ..
they have a wonderful gift shop
where they sell their fiber for knitting and also clothing.
Hope to see you there.

Enjoy the last weeks of Summer ~ til next time, Rosanne
Its been a busy time here on the farm. Lots of perennial planting of herbs and veggies (asparagus)
Sprucing up the orchard, though we did loose 3 trees, and will replace those that didn’t make it.
The Elderberries are doing great! Now that they are weed free and not being choked out!
We found this wonderful young man Teddy Mattson from Thorndike ME who is certified in permaculture.
He is amazing with plantings and does Hugel Kultur. The below is our first finished Hugel with perennial herbs.
So much happening now and we are finally settling in.!
The ‘girls’ are just to sweet and love hanging out on the window.
He sure is getting big our little puppy.. he weighed in at just 100 lbs this June 2015 .. and he still is growing.
The sweetest pup you ever want to meet.
The Summer Season is in full swing, I hope you are protecting you skin from the effects of the sun.

Consider what Dr. Mercola has to say in regard to bath and shower products:
“If I were to tell you that your shower and bath products could be putting you at risk for less-than-optimal skin and eye health, immune and endocrine function, would you pay a little more attention to your products’ ingredients?
Did you know that applying a substance to your skin isn’t much different from eating it? In fact, I believe it may be even worse.
And let’s not forget… a hot steaming shower…
* Opens your skin pores
* Drives a high absorption rate of chemicals directly into your system
* Vaporizes 70 to 90% of the chemicals present so you inhale them into your lungs
When you consider that products such as shower gels and soaps may be used daily, you can imagine the chemical residue that may build up over the years. (Source: http://bathcare.mercola.com/)
Essentially, it’s safe to say that if it’s not something you would eat, it is best not to put it on your skin.
We have added some new products:
– Anointing oil – Spiral of Life Associated with the cycles of time, seasons, birth, growth, death and then rebirth.

– Coffee CO2-to Extract : if you really truly love the scent of coffee .. this is amazing material
And so much more to explore on our site. So on a really hot day when you just want to sit back in the a/c and have a chill out day, please visit our site and learn about our products.
Stay cool and remember to hydrate and don’t forget the old folks do not do well in the heat .. nor do our pets.
